Coburg City Oval Grandstand Demolition
Iconic VFL Australian Rules Grandstand at Coburg City Oval is undergoing a complete refurbishment. This challenging project required gutting of the ground level changeroom and players locker rooms with all internal structural brick walls to be removed, requiring engineered propping and retention systems to hold up the 105 year old Grandstand above.
Also, part of the demolition scope was some large façade penetrations through the external four course brick wall for future access and windows.
Another aspect of the challenges faced during this project was the tight access and the detailed sequencing and order of propping and demolishing before moving to the next portion of the building.
Aged heritage timber and materials were reclaimed from this project and old red brick recycled.
